VENUS UNCHAINED: STEVE JOBS’ SUPERYACHT

The world’s fascination with the late Steve Jobs’ superyacht Venus continues this week with multiple reports citing a final settlement on payment issues. French daily Le Monde and the AFP report that famed designer Philippe Starck, whose creative vision graces Venus’ distinctive lines, has come to an understanding with the estate on the reported issue of his outstanding payment. “The Venus is no longer impounded, we have found a solution. A security deposit was paid into a bank account, but I cannot say for how much,” said Gerard Moussault, a Hague-based lawyer for the Jobs estate. The AFP reports that the 70-meter Venus cost more than 100 million euros and that the dispute between the parties arose as a result of Starck’s claim that he was to be paid a fixed sum of nine million euros; the Jobs estate countered Starck was to be paid a sum based on a percentage of the total cost.
